Mutual Aid Program :

NEFSCUN Mutual Aid is a co-operative based financial security system (Micro-insurance). It is aimed at pooling resources among members those are excluded from formal social protection mechanism under co-operative principles & values. NEFSCUN Mutual Aid Service initially started from January 2005, but needed a restart, from January 2007 NEFSCUN started the sales of a revised death risk policy (DSP) with double accidental death benefit and in October 2008 we started selling the Cooperative Security policy (CSP) a 10 year term combined savings and death risk policy. At the end of 2009 the services are provided to members of 29 SACCOS and another 31 SACCOS signed the memorandum of cooperation and are gearing up to start selling policies to their members. In 2010-2011 we want to expand the services selling policies through 120 SACCOS reaching more than 5,800 members and their households by the end of 2011.

Mutual Aid Services will be promoted as complementary service to traditional savings and credit services and is part of the financial solutions SACCOS can provide to their members; building and protecting their wealth. NEFSCUN received technical assistance Agriterra and Micro Insurance Association the Netherlands (MIAN) to be able to develop and implement this service.
